Firework night car boot snug and apple nachos

Firework night car boot snug and apple nachos

Remember, remember…my blog post from last November?  Well if not, I’ll be needing a letter from your mum explaining why.  And then once excused, you can click on the link below to get some ideas for a car boot snug to watch fireworks from afar. Fireworks from the cheap seats

This weekend sees family fun with fireworks, large bonfires, hot chocolates, baked potatoes, toffee apples, sparklers, cold noses and ooohs and aaahs as crackles fill the night sky.

Now, I love fireworks and I want to be right underneath the firecrackers as the night sky vibrates colourful hues.

However, the girls aren’t overly keen and find them too loud.  And if I’m honest, I too am less keen on all the hanging around in the cold waiting for the entertainment to begin.  So we’ve never taken them to an organised display.  But they quite like watching them from a distance.

So it’s time for the annual vacuum of the car boot as I prepare for our car boot, firework night snug.

Create your own car boot snug with a few cheap accessories.  Dig out those cosy cushions, beanbags and duvets to keep warm while you wait for the skies to light up.

Accessorise further with battery powered fairy lights, glittery bunting and other sparkly accessories.

Take along a few books about fireworks or Guy Fawkes and enjoy while you wait for the excitement to begin.

And don’t forget your hot chocolates and boot snug treats to munch too.  Fill a flask with hot chocolate and personalise some paper cups with your sparkly Shapie pens and some gold stickers.

These chocolate orange ‘bonfire’ cupcakes were easy to make.

Simply add some grated orange zest and a tablespoon of orange juice to your chocolate cake mixture for a chocolaty citrus treat. Decorate with orange flavoured buttercream and Flakes for that bonfire look.

Add mini sparklers for extra magic.

Make some ‘Apple Nachos’ by simply cutting some apple wedges and drizzle over some melted chocolate or toffee sauce, finishing with a sprinkle of chopped nuts, chocolate chips and mini marshmallows.

Then just patiently wait for the fun to begin.
